Medical Center of Arlington proudly announces the opening of its Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The CVICU is a specialty unit that consists of six large, private ICU rooms that feature state of the art patient cardiovascular monitoring and ICU beds that encompass the newest technology available today. The new unit cares for and performs intense monitoring of cardiovascular patients requiring a high level of specialized heart and vascular care. These needs range from intra-aortic balloon pumps to continuous renal replacement therapy.
"This unit has been developed from the vision of our Board, Medical Staff and employees to provide the highest level of cardiovascular care available in the DFW area for our patients" said Winston Borland, President and CEO of Medical Center of Arlington. "We now have the premier unit for our excellent physicians and staff at Medical Center of Arlington to provide the highest level of care for these patients."
Medical Center of Arlington's CVICU services include board certified cardiothoracic surgeons that specialize in coronary artery bypass, open heart surgery to include valvular repair or replacement, lobectomy, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, and various other specialty procedures. Additionally, MCA has recently expanded their vascular service line to include the treatment of descending thoracic aortic aneurysms and infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms in both the open and minimally invasive fashion. MCA is also expanding their Catheritization Lab resources to provide the most advanced minimally invasive techniques to treat peripheral arterial occlusive disease. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit works closely with the Cardiac Catheterization Lab to assist in quick diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring a high level of coronary care.
