Medical Center Arlington is certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center and is Tarrant County's first stroke center. With an on-site dedicated Stroke Team, a unit devoted to stroke patients with specially trained nursing and support staff and quick access to labs, medications, and CT and MRI scans, it's no wonder that MCA is the first choice when minutes matter most.

Partnership with Texas Stroke Institute

Medical Center Arlington also partners with medical professionals from HCA’s Texas Stroke Institute, the first comprehensive brain attack system of care in North Texas. This world-renowned team of stroke and interventional neurologists are board certified in neuro-critical care.

Stroke Support Group

Stroke Support Group – MCA offers a Stroke Support Group that meets monthly on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  The meetings are held from 8:00 am - 9:00 am in the Private Dining Room of the MCA cafeteria.

Medical Center Arlington is proud to be Tarrant County’s first TJC Certified Primary Stroke Center. MCA is a state designated Level 2 Stroke Center and Get With The Guidelines Gold Award Recipient for 2009 and 2010,
MCA provides neuroscience care, including advanced treatments for brain cancer, life-saving interventions for stroke patients, as well as treatments for other complex spine disorders.

Our team of professionals takes a multi disciplinary approach that's specifically tailored for each patient to maximize patient care and optimize their recovery. The Stroke Program also offers support and education to the patients and their families.

Are You at Risk for Stroke?

There is no typical neurological patient. Each person will have unique symptoms or perhaps NO symptoms at all. Prevention and early detection are key factors in identifying and successfully treating neurological conditions. Know these warning signs of stroke and teach them to others. Every second counts:

  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
  • Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
