Rehabilitation services fall under a branch of practice known as Physical Medicine. Physical Medicine is a branch of medicine which aims to restore and enhance functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. The professionals working in this realm focus on restoring optimal function to individuals with injuries to muscles, bones, tissues and the nervous system.
The rehabilitation professionals at Medical Center of Arlington work very closely with each patient, their families, physicians, and other medical staff, developing a specialized treatment plan to meet the unique needs of each patient. These professionals include Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
The Medical Center of Arlington offers a staff of well trained and qualified therapists and a wide range of comprehensive services and education in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
When an individual is hospitalized and is in the acute recovery stages following a surgery, stroke, or some other illness, his or her physician may determine a need for therapy services and will order such services as a part of the plan for the recovery process. The patient would then be evaluated by therapy services and provided with rehabilitation at the bedside and/or in a clinical treatment area.
